Fair trade handmade leather journal (blank)

Return to Previous Page

I bought this notebook as ‘second quality’on Ebay in 2014. Couldn’t figure out what was ‘wrong’ with it.
The seller is still very active.

I added some horse-tack saddle-oil to the thick leather cover which arrived really stiff. It has held up really well over the past years.
The sheets are held in place with 4 leather strings, not very tightly/securely bound.
I ended up removing the binding and I’m keeping the signatures (= stacks of folded paper) inside the cover. Works well.

The paper is khadda ( recycled cotton that has been left over from the massive garment industry in India ) which is extremely absorbent, making this journal mainly suitable for ballpoints.
Anything wet will feather like hell (though because of the paper thickness bleedthrough is usually not that bad)
